Toga's fate after the war remained a mystery for a long time, but My Hero Academia Chapter 428 finally alluded to her death.
As we near the end, My Hero Academia has wrapped up every major character – even the villains. So far we’ve seen All For One and Shigaraki die, followed by confirmation of Dabi’s near-death experience. We even see Spinner in the epilogue.
However, we don't know what happened to Himiko Toga. She is one of the main antagonists of the story and a personal obstacle to Ochako Uraraka. Despite her importance (or perhaps because of it), her fate remains a mystery.
But since there are three more chapters, we'll definitely find out sooner or later. My Hero Academia Chapter 428 is the first step in this and shows that Toga did not survive the war.
The last time we saw Toga, she had just finished fighting Ochako. Despite awakening her Quirk and stopping the Twice army, the young hero had lost a lot of blood and was on the verge of passing out. However, her efforts to understand and stop Toga paid off in the end.
In order to save Ochako's life, Toga gave her blood to the aspiring hero. Although we don't know to what extent, Ochako survived the blood loss. After that, we don't hear anything about Toga's condition anymore. Many theorize that she may have been imprisoned while some believe she died.
The latter hypothesis appears to be coming true, judging by subtle clues in the My Hero Academia Chapter 428. In this chapter, we get a deeper look into Ochako's inner turmoil after she failed to save Toga. Despite being surrounded by friends, she constantly remembers Toga and her sacrifice.
Ochako's grief is a big enough clue to Toga's death. This, combined with her severe injuries and the way she was last seen, lends further credence to this theory. Perhaps in the next chapter, we'll get definitive confirmation of her tragic fate.
