Summary
Sukuna’s cursed technique remains a mystery. While his main attacks are slashing techniques called Dismantle and Cleave, Sukuna also uses a fire-based curse technique. While the manga censored part of Sukuna’s speech before summoning his fire technique, the anime shows his lips moving, possibly pronouncing the word “hako” (box) or “sarcophagus”. Fans speculate that Sukuna’s cursed technique involves a “box” or “Ark” where he stores stolen tools and techniques, connecting him to the subjects religion and the fallen angel Lucifer.
Ryomen Sukuna is the main antagonist in Gege Akutami Jujutsu Kaisen, but his signature power, his cursed technique, remains a mystery in the series, except for a small but basic hint given only in the anime. During the Shibuya Incident Arc, the Cursed King reveals an important detail, sparking speculation about the origin of his cursed technique. However, the strongest cursed spirit that dominated history’s engineering remains a mystery.
Sukuna’s cursed technique has not been fully explained. However, the majority of Sukuna’s cursed energy is largely witnessed through his cursed techniques, Splitting and Splitting. Both include slashing attacks; The former is a ranged attack typically used on objects (but is also effective against living creatures), while the latter is a close-range attack that adapts to the target it touches, slashing it into many pieces.
Sukuna’s Domain Expansion – The Shrine of Evil has a guaranteed attack range of nearly 200 meters, meaning anyone caught in it is likely to die permanently. However, Sukuna also demonstrated a mysterious fire manipulation technique during the Shibuya Incident, which surpassed even the fire-based cursed soul Jogo, meaning that the Curse King’s true curse technique remains is still a mystery.

The editor of Jujutsu Kaisen revealed many shocking details in the upcoming chapters, leading to crazy speculation among fans.
Sukuna’s cursed technique has been hinted at in the Anime
During that fight against Jogo, one prominent detail was censored in chapter #115 of Jujutsu Kaisen to keep this mystery alive: Sukuna’s words before launching the fire attack. However, the partially revealed truth was hinted at in the corresponding episode of the anime, episode #16 of season 2. While this chapter uses two speech bubbles, one is censored, the other says , “open”, before Sukuna unleashed his flame technique, anime shows The Curse King retold what was censored in the manga. Fans have of course tried to read Sukuna’s lips to understand the mystery behind his cursed technique.
According to a post on X by Jujutsu Kaisen fanatic @Giusydev96, some Japanese fans believe that the word Sukuna uttered was “Ark” or “hako”, which means “box” in Japanese. This may refer to the Ark of the Covenant in the Old Testament, a gilded box containing sacred religious objects: a golden jar of manna, Aaron’s staff, and the tablets of the covenant. Aaron’s staff can be represented through Sukuna’s cursed tool, the Hiten spear. Another theory linking the Ark to Sukuna is that the electricity is said to come from the Ark, which is also shown in Sukuna’s other cursed tool, the Kamutoke.
The Curse King and the Chest
What’s interesting is that Sukuna is called “The Fallen One” or “The Dishonored One” in chapter #199, leads to a further connection to religion through the figure of Satan or Lucifer. Another theory that fans are proposing is that Sukuna’s cursed technique includes having a “box” (hako) where he stores the cursed tools and techniques he acquires or steal from opponents throughout the centuries of his existence and he can draw will.
Where the manga censored the speech, the anime provided a clearer image of what the words might represent through the King of the Damned’s lip movements during the Shibuya Incident Arc. This sign opens a path towards religion, with the belief that Sukuna’s fallen status transformed him into Lucifer. With the connection between his black box and the Ark, along with the representation of the cursed tools and Sukuna’s claim to be a fallen angel, Jujutsu Kaisen The anime makes a case for explaining the origin and power of the tribeThe cursed technique remains mysterious.
