Manga creator Takuto Aoki directs the film about real-world SINoALICE player Alice
Kodoani.com – Square Enix officially announced on Wednesday a new “fan film” for the game SINoALICE, titled “SINoALICE Ichiban Saigo no Monogatari” (The Last Story). The film is expected to premiere in Japan on February 23. The film’s website revealed “the final ending of the SINoALICE story.
The film revolves around Alice, a real-world player, going through hardships since starting to play the game SINoALICE. While despairing of the world, she decides to end her life, but then wakes up to find herself in the game, interacting with navigator characters such as Parrah and Noya. Both of these characters throw all the despair of their previous lives at Alice. As Parrah and Noya lead Alice away, the game’s characters devise a plan to confront them both.
Takuto Aoki, the author of the game’s manga adaptation, will direct the film, with ILCA assisting in the production. Keiichi Okabe and MONACA are responsible for composing the music, while the main actors from the game will voice their characters.
Square Enix released the action RPG SINoALICE for iOS and Android in Japan in June 2017, and the global English version was published by Pokelabo Inc. introduced in July 2020. Game service ends in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau in November 2022 with a unique ending, forcing players to permanently log out upon completion.
The project has attracted attention from Nexon Korea, the game’s global developer, which describes SINoALICE as “a creepy fairy tale”. Although the global version ended its service in November 2023, the manga adaptation continues to run starring Yokō Tarō, Takuto Aoki, Himiko, and Jino on Square Enix’s Manga UP website since 2019 The manga completed with its sixth volume on January 6.
