What’s interesting about One Piece chapter 1122?
While One Piece has no shortage of great friendships, perhaps the most touching one comes from centuries ago. During the Egghead arc, we meet a giant robot from the Void Century, later revealed to be named Emeth.
Despite having slept for hundreds of years, Emeth finally awakens after sensing the Drum of Liberation inside Luffy. It’s the same beat as Joyboy’s heart, and the robot senses his friend even after centuries of slumber.
Emeth then takes it upon himself to protect Luffy and his allies from the Gorosei. He fully understands that Joyboy is long dead and that Luffy is a different person. However, he sees the shadow of his good friend through Luffy and wants to protect him at all costs.
In One Piece chapter 1122, in order to save Luffy from the villains, Emeth unleashed his ultimate technique – Joyboy’s Conqueror’s Haki that was sealed inside him centuries ago. This Haki was so powerful that it forced the Five Elders to turn back into humans and was blown away to the holy land of Mary Geoise.
This allowed the Straw Hat Pirates and their allies to leave Egghead Island, leaving the robot to fall into a deep sleep once more. As Emeth watched Luffy leave, it remembered its long-lost friend.
In its memory, we see the robot with Joyboy (only a silhouette of him), before the legendary figure sealed his Conqueror’s Haki inside it. Joyboy says he is sealing Haki inside the robot, to protect Emeth after his death.
“At some point, you will be in danger of your life… or someone you want to save will be in danger! When that happens… untie the knot.”, Joyboy said before compressing his Conqueror’s Haki into Emeth.
What’s more touching is that Emeth sees it not only as protection, but also as a way to always feel his friend’s presence. As he said: “Hehe… That makes me happy! Thanks! Now it doesn’t matter if you die, it’ll be like you’re still with me!”
How do One Piece fans feel?
At the end of One Piece chapter 1122, before losing consciousness, the robot thought one last time: “I hope I don’t feel lonely…”
It’s sad to see Emeth feel that way, since he no longer has Joyboy’s Haki inside him. Even though he can’t be with his friend, he hopes that he will meet Luffy in the future and find another friend in him.
