The first episode of My Hero Academia: Vigilantes aired this week. After many months of expectation, the last episode brought a vibrant trip. With the title I’m here, the episode officially introduced to Koichi Haimawari fans, a college student with the dream of becoming a hero like All Might. Set for many years ago the events of the original My Hero Academia series, this part of the story focused on the guards and individuals working outside the official hero system.
Koichi’s Quirk, Slide and Glide, allows him to move smoothly on the surfaces as long as the three limbs are still in contact. Although it is not the ability to focus on fighting, Koichi uses it to help others in small ways, helping him nicknamed the ‘Nice Guy’ in his neighborhood. However, his peaceful habit was interrupted after he was targeted by a group of thugs.
The episode also introduced Pop Step, a performing artist using his Leap capacity to attract attention in illegal concerts. Koichi happened to meet her in one of her performances, but both of them were in trouble when those bad guys came back and threatened Pop Step.
Koichi tried to protect her but was obviously overwhelmed until a mysterious man named Knuckleduster appeared. He easily defeated the attackers and revealed that he was watching a dangerous drug called Trigger.
This substance enhances the odd ability, turning normal villains into a major threat. Although Koichi was inexperienced, Knuckleduster proposed to train him as his job, believing that heroism did not always need an official approval.
The episode ended with the sight of Eraser Head suddenly appeared when Knuckleduster and Koichi began the investigation of Trigger. Despite its short, his appearance connected to this appendage to the wider My Hero Academia universe and suggested more about the upcoming interference moments.
Myo Academia fans: Vigilantes can expect episode 2 titled Takeoff, scheduled to release on Monday, April 14, 2025. The episode will be available for online broadcast on crunchyroll at 8:15 am Pacific time (PT), 11:15 am in the Eastern time (ET) and 4:15 pm in the summer time British (BST).
