Masters 2 Copenhagen has ended the group stage, but the tournament does not have a specific meta, but each team has its own style of play.
VCT Stage 2: Masters Copenhagen has spent 4 days of the Group Stage, 4 teams continue to enter the intense Playoffs including Guild Esports, Dragon-X, OpTic Gaming and Funplus Phoenix. The remaining four teams that will stop to prepare for the Last Chance Qualifier or prepare for the Valorant Champions include XERXIA, Loud, KRU and NORTHEPTION. The defending champion Paper Rex will be our APAC region’s last hope at this year’s Masters Copenhagen.

Overview of the group stage, one thing we can be most clear about is that no one team is really weaker than the rest, but the teams are all playing very fair with each other. Even XERXIA and LOUD had to receive 2 defeats and left the tournament quite early, but their 2 defeats were 1-2 defeats. This shows that there is not much difference in the level of the top teams in the regions, any team can lose, including the defending Masters 1 champion – OpTic Gaming.
Many players including OpTic Marved after the end of the group stage shared his affirmation for the tournament’s meta that there was “no meta at all”. Teams play relatively improvised and creative for each map, each of their players. However, the gameplay of the teams did not change too much, but forced them to study the opponent, study the opponent carefully to bring the most effective options in direct confrontations.

For example, in the main battle between OpTic and Guild. OpTic when competing in Split before at Masters Reykjavik 2022 and Challengers 2 NA, they always chose Breach and Neon. However, when facing Giuld, OpTic decided to choose Fade and Raze in Split to face the 3rd seed of the EMEA region.

Dragon-X too, they expanded their agents at Masters Copenhagen. Instead of using the agents that made their name at the VCT Korea Stage 2 Challengers, DRX decided to change their lineup. They replaced Sova with Jett, Chamber with Killjoy and Omen for Astra. This worked well with a map victory against NORTHEPTION in the opening match at Masters Copenhagen.

Those are just the first matches in the group stage of Masters Copenhagen, the exciting Playoffs between the 8 strongest teams are still ahead. There will not be any days off, let’s follow and support the teams that will continue to compete at this Masters 2.
