Megumi Han, Ai Kakuma star in anime about a boy who dreams of becoming a pioneer of magic in another world
Kodoani.com – On Wednesday, Kadokawa announced an anime adaptation of the light novel series Magic Maker ~Isekai Mahō no Tsukurikata~ (How to Perform Alternate World Magic) by Kazuki Kaburagi. The company also revealed a teaser image, trailer, main cast, production staff, and a release date of 2025.
The anime will star Megumi Han as Shion (right in teaser image) and Ai Kakuma as Marie (left in teaser image).

The novel's story focuses on a man who dies in the modern world while still harboring a thirst for magic, and is reincarnated in another world as a child named Shion. Hoping that magic finally exists in another world, Shion is disappointed to discover that magic does not exist in this new world either. One day, while visiting a lake with his younger sister Marie, Shion witnesses a mysterious phenomenon that “looks like magic”. After that, Shion decides to become a pioneer of magic in another world and begins to research magic.
Kaburagi launched the light novel series on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website in 2017, where it is still ongoing. Kadokawa published the first volume of the novel series with illustrations by Ten in May 2020 and the second volume in December of the same year.
Tomozo Nishioka launched the manga adaptation on the Manga Doa app in June 2021. Mag Garden published the first compiled volume in December 2021 and the third volume in February 2023.
