Viz Media licensed the “Call of the Night” manga and will release the 15th compiled book volume in English on March 12. The manga is described as follows:
Kou Yamori seems like a typical middle school student on the outside. Relatively good at his studies and gentle with his classmates, he puts in a lot of effort to maintain this facade. However, one day, he decided to stop pretending and quit school, suffering from insomnia due to his lack of energy during the day. When he walks alone at night, he feels a little better, although he is aware that his insomnia should be considered a serious problem. During one such walk, Kou meets a strange girl, Nazuna Nanakusa, who diagnoses the cause of his insomnia: despite the changes in his life, he is still holding himself back from experiencing Experience true freedom. She says he won’t be able to sleep unless he’s satisfied with how he spends his waking hours. When she seems to have resolved his current worries, Nazuna invites him back to her apartment to share her mattress. After a moment, unaware that he was only pretending to be unconscious, she leaned over him — and bit his neck!
Kotoyama, the author of “Dagashi Kashi”, launched the “Call of the Night” manga in Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine in August 2019. Shogakukan will publish the 20th compiled book volume on March 18.
